Charles McMahan Obituary

NEWARK: A service to celebrate the life of Charles Lynn McMahan, 78, of Newark will be held 2:00 p.m. August 5, 2009 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark, with Pastor Gus Andrews presiding. As a retired member of the U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard, his cremated remains will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. McMahan passed away July 1, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio. He was born August 5, 1930, in Spur, Texas to his late parents, Charles H. and Mozell (Battles) McMahan.
In addition to a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force and the Army National Guard, Mr. McMahan was a retired engineer for Amatrol, Inc. and a former instructor on the campuses of both C.O.T.C. and Columbus State.
Mr. McMahan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Rector) McMahan; son, Charles B. (Sherry) McMahan, of Springboro, Ohio; daughters, Debra L. (Don) Frankenbery, of Newark, Cheryl A. (Terri) Neal, of Portland, Oregon, Elizabeth E. Davis, of Newark and Kelley C. (Jeff) Starcher, of St. Louisville, Ohio; as well as ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Newark Public Library.
