Ellen Nethers Obituary
NEWARK: A memorial service celebrating the life of Ellen Cecilia Nethers, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at the Flint Ridge Community Center, 1450 West Main Street, Newark, with Father Rob William and Rev. Anthony Payton officiating.
Ellen Cecilia Nethers, age 78 of Newark, passed away on December 21, 2016 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 13, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Otto C. and Celeste B. (Claeys) Odendahl.
Ellen deeply loved her family and will be sadly missed. She had a good sense of humor, always had a smile on her face and was a very kind, warm and compassionate woman. She enjoyed collecting dolls and growing houseplants. She graduated St. Francis de Sales High School in 1956 and was very active with Flint Ridge Community Village where she won best Christmas display for 2015.
She is survived by her three sons, Tim Nethers, Bill Nethers and Brian (Cat) Nethers all of Newark; two daughters, Mary (Kenny Wahl) Nethers of Heath and Joellen Meadows of Newark; a brother, Gene (Twila) Odendal of Perrysburg; a sister, Maureen Odendahl of Newark; sister-n-law, Marlene Odendahl; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Nethers (2000); son, Paul Nethers; infant daughter, Suzanne Nethers; two brothers, Otto Odendahl and infant brother, Donald Odendahl; sister, Joyce and Bob Willman; and son-in-law, Jim Meadows.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
The Nethers family would like to extend a special thanks to Generation Home Health Care, Flintridge Village and Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all of their wonderful care and kindness extended to Ellen.
