Michael Westbrook

Newark - A funeral service celebrating the life of Michael R. Westbrook, 59, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Casey Wilson and Rev. Bob Long as celebrants. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery.

Mike passed away at home on June 12, 2021. He was born in Newark to Connie S. Westbrook and the late Robert T. Westbrook.

A graduate of Heath High School, Mike also attended Granville Schools for the majority of his education. He worked at Denison University as a custodian for 32 years, First Federal for 31 ½ years, and also did yardwork on the side. He was a faithful member of Centenary U.M. Church where he served as an usher for 46 years, was an outside greeter with Buck Sargent, and helped with the ice cream socials. Welcoming was his ministry. He also enjoyed helping people, bowling, golfing with friends, and cheering for the Buckeyes. Mike will be remembered for his determination to live independently with illness and his ability to always think of others first.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother; wife, Christine; brother and sister-in-law, Brian C. and Christy Westbrook; sister-in-law, Yvonne Harvey; and canine companion, Holly.

In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Betty Welch, and Charles and Pauline Westbrook; aunt, Connie J. Westbrook; and Henry, his canine confidante.
