Sue Pickering Obituary

Sue Pickering

GRANVILLE: A funeral service celebrating the life of Sue Pickering, age 69, of Granville, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 25, at Tri-Village Christian Church with Pastor Paul Snoddy officiating. Burial took place in Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Sue was born October 1, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Donald J. and Gloria Vivien (Stewart) Worstell. She passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

She was a 1964 graduate of Whitehall-Yearling High School where she was the first female to letter in track and field. In addition, she was also an accomplished swimmer, lifeguard and swim instructor. She later became a buyer for the Union Department Store, spent many years as the head of the Columbus Suburban East Branch of the YMCA and retired as Vice President of Human Resources at Sterling Towne Properties. Sue was a very active member of Tri-Village Christian Church where she was the women's ministry leader and assisted in many capacities within the church. She was past-president of the Park Trails Home Owners Association and her property management knowledge was invaluable to the neighborhood. Family and faith were very important to Sue and she enjoyed Bible studies, crafting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years, Bruce Pickering, whom she married September 12, 1965; three sons, Brian (Lori) Pickering of Broadview Heights, Brad (Patti) Pickering of Pickerington and Brent (Sarah) Pickering of Heath; grandchildren, Luke and Mallory Pickering, Cate and Lauren Pickering and Kallie and Mia Pickering; step-grandchildren, Miya, Alissa and Gavin; brother, Donald (Stephanie) Worstell of New Albany; half brother, Ronald (Donna) Worstell of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a niece, Staci Worstell Palmer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Village Christian Church Women's Ministry.

Bruce and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I treasure all the memories of working for the WNTO when we did car shows or sitting in the dark working the snack wagon at the rest areas by the freeway. She was a special lady who will live on in your heart.
