Newark - Sylvia Joanne Widrig, 76, of Edgewood, KY entered into eternal life peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018 at home in the arms of her loving husband and surrounded by her 13 children. A native of Newark, Ohio, Joanne was born on May 30, 1942 to the late Harold Haynes and Gisela Wadner Melick. She was a homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for her family.

Joanne enjoyed her life with family, friends, the Catholic Church, flowers and wildlife, reading on the deck, dancing with her husband, and cheering for UK basketball and the Cincinnati Bengals. She was full of positivity and love, had a great sense of humor, and was always ready for a hug. Joanne will be deeply missed.

Joanne is survived by the love of her life, her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Albert Widrig; daughters Martina Buckner, Kristina Hopper, Regina Ellis, Michele Fisk, Elizabeth Garn, Jeannie Overpeck, Monica Fields, Holly Widrig, Sara Eickhoff; sons Greg, Phil, Sean and Brian Widrig; sisters Sue Dondelewski, Kristen Boylin, Diane Smith, Mary Beth Vogel, Karen Deckard; brothers Douglas and Gregory Melick; 31 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and members of the extended Widrig and Melick families. Joanne was preceded in death by baby Sean Widrig.

Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Road, Edgewood, KY. 41017. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newark, Ohio at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
