Franklin Wilson Obituary

NEW BERN | Franklin D. Wilson, 82, of New Bern, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
He was at home and surrounded by family and his two wonderful hospice nurses.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Glenda H. Wilson; his children, Cynthia L. Adams and David R. Adams and wife, Toni L. Adams. He was loved and cherished by three grandchildren, Brandon, Hailey and Walker Adams. He is also survived by sisters, Sarah Dotson, Bernice Adams and husband, Forrester, Anne Sturgill, Kay Wilson and Hazel W. Nix and brother, Timothy Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Julia Elizabeth Wilson and five brothers and three sisters.
Frank was blessed with a large and loving family including seven nieces and nine nephews, as well as thirteen great-nieces and twelve great-nephews who all loved and had special relationships with their Uncle "D".
Frank loved to meet and talk with people. Two of his favorite places to be were his church and at work. Frank was blessed to have served as a deacon in the church and enjoyed sixty-four years in the hotel business which he dearly loved.
Frank was loved by all that knew him. Though he will be missed tremendously, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has gone home to be with
his Lord and Savior.
His memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, August 27th at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Gleason officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial gifts may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, PO Box 1510, New Bern, NC 28563.

Glenda, my thoughts and prayers are with you always. Frank was such a wonderful friend that I loved very much. The first time that we met in the airport when we both were lost our friendship started and that's when you became one of my best friends that I have loved so much over the years as well. I look forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven. I love you Glenda.

I dearly loved Frank! I knew him for well over 40 years. I first met him when he would allow us to swim at the Palace Motel pool and was always so nice. In my adult years, I was fortunate enough to have worked with him a lot when he was at the Comfort Suites (now Courtyard by Marriot) and I was Executive Director of the Craven County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The last time I saw him was this past January, when he so warmly greeted our guests for my daughter's wedding. He was still working hard and doing what he loved and that was wonderful to still see! I send my love to you all and please know you are also in my prayers.

Frank will be greatly missed. He was a patient man and a good coach at softball. I had the great fortune of playing ball for him many years ago. I also worked for him in the motel business. He was a mentor and a friend. Sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our prayers.
