She was a member of First Baptist Church and an avid UNC fan.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William James Avent Jr.; two sons, William J. Avent III of Zebulon and Randy K. Avent of Oakton, Va.; two daughters, Nancy A. Gary of Holly Springs and Jean M. Avent of Raleigh; her brother, Drew M. Clack of Burnsville; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cotten Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Fitzgerald officiating.
