Nancy Erny Johnstin

1932 - 2017

RIVER BEND - Nancy Erny Johnstin, 85, of River Bend, NC, died on September 28, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice in Newport, NC after a brief illness. Nancy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harry G. Johnstin Jr.; sons, Tom, Chris, and Ken; daughter, Margery; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Nancy graduated from St. Xavier Academy and Latrobe High School. She also graduated from what is now known as Chatham University.
Nancy was an avid outdoors woman. She held the reigns of horses, the leashes of dogs, and managed the trimming of sails on her beloved "NANMAR II" sloop on the Great Lakes and in the Carolina waters. Nancy's love of the water also extended to water aerobics where she was both a participant and an instructor. Nancy also enjoyed crafting. Nancy knitted afghans for all of her children and grandchildren; she enjoyed photographing flowers and the coastal waters, and tending to her garden.
The family will hold a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on October 14th at Saint Vincent's Basilica, Latrobe PA. Burial to follow at the cemetery at Saint Vincent's.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Vincent Seminary, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650 or Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570.
