I want to offer by deepest condolences to Serena's husband and her family. Surena and I were "neighbors" for many years when she worked in the N.C. Senate. She was an extraordinary lady. She was the person who alway had a great pork recipe for me to try. Truly there is a new angel in heaven.

I worked with Surena when I filled in for her for a few weeks at the General Assembly. During that short time, and working together "from a distance", I learned a lot from Surena and quickly came to love her. She was the kind of woman others should pattern themselves after. I know her many friends here will remember her as I do, as a lovely lady. I was so sorry to learn of her death. Will keep you in my prayers in coming weeks.
