Nancy Ophelia Ayers Monroe, 87, of Newberry, died Monday, November 27, 2023 at her residence.
Born on May 25, 1936 in Camden, Mrs. Monroe was the daughter of the late Dacus and Mable Shirley Ayers.
Mrs. Monroe was a United States Army veteran and a retired bookkeeper. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and working with stained glass. She loved working in her flower garden and cooking chicken and dumplings for her family. Nancy was also know to be a excellent card player.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Monroe; a daughter, Joni Monroe Smith; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by 3 of her children, Patrick Stuart Monroe, Susan Monroe Wilson, and George Michael Monroe.
A memorial service were held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Restoration Outreach Center.
