Born on November 3, 1941, in Danbury, Jim was the son of the late Albert A. and Bertha Mary (Wayshnor) Roy. He was raised in Danbury alongside his sister, Carol, and graduated from Danbury High School in 1959. Soon after, he proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Jim earned a degree in Accounting from Bentley College in Waltham, MA, in 1976 and went on to work for General Electric. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and RVing, finding joy in each adventure. As a lifelong member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club and an active participant in the Nutmeg Winnebago Club, he treasured the friendships and community these groups provided. Jim was also a devoted parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Bristol. He shared a special bond with his loyal hunting companion and beloved dog, Lilly, who passed before him. Jim will be remembered for his steady support and the deep love he had for his family.
Jim is survived by his four children: Janella Peltak and her husband, Tom, of Hooksett, NH; Mark Roy and his wife, Stacie, of Leonardtown, MD; Michael Roy and his wife, Karen, of Weare, NH; and Matthew Roy and his wife, Tammy, of Manchester, NH. He also leaves behind two stepsons: Sean Fitzgerald and his wife, Ines, of San Francisco, CA; and Joseph Fitzgerald of Tampa, FL; as well as his sister, Carol Cozza of Aurora, CO.
