Antoinette G. Helvie, 99, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 while residing at Shady Oaks in Bristol CT. She was born on December 3, 1924 in Fort Kent, Maine, to her parents, the late Raymond and Demerise (Pinette) Guimond. She was the loving wife of the late Arlan Helvie whom passed away in 1999. Antoinette grew up on a farm with her family in Fort Kent. She moved to CT when she was 16, to live with an older sister and her husband. She eventually worked at Superior Electric for about 10 years. She was then hired by the Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford and worked there for 30 years, before retiring. Antoinette was always so happy to have received the Golden Handshake and was proud of the benefits she received as a result. Antoinette was an avid bowler. She and her husband Arlan bowled for many years and loved the time they spent together. Antoinette continued to bowl until her early 90s. Antoinette was an independent and strong-minded women. She loved her sports cars and drove her soft yellow 1966 Corvette whenever she could. She and her husband, Arlan loved to travel and had many great adventures to Hawaii, Bermuda, driving cross country to California and back and going gambling. She also spent most of her summers at their cottage in Charlestown, RI. She loved watching her children playing on the beach and riding their bikes with other kids in the area. Antoinette lived her life to the fullest and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Antoinette is survived by her daughter Hope Helvie of Bristol; son Bruce Helvie and his wife Joanne of Bristol; Grandchildren Thomas, Catherine, and Jason; great-grandchildren Justin and Jonathan and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Antoinette is predeceased by her grandson Daniel, and 10 siblings Lucien, Camil, Albert, Gilman, Hattie, Denise, Clara, Laura, Ernestine and Mabel. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave. Bristol from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m..
