Bertha Ann Carlone, age 79, born in New Britain, CT passed away peacefully at the Southington Care Center on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021.
Bertha was born May 15, 1942 in New Britain, to John Henry Staminski and Emilia Szyszka of New Britain. She grew up attending New Britain Schools and graduated from New Britain High School in 1960. Bertha later attended E.C Goodwin Regional Vocational-Technical School where she graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse Program in 1970. After graduating, Bertha began working at New Britain General Hospital where she was employed for 35 years. Bertha enjoyed her time serving in the ICU, CCU, N-2, and Emergency Room and in addition to caring for the patients, Bertha cherished the fact that she made several lifelong friends from her time at NBGH with whom she enjoyed spending time with out of work by going shopping at the mall, going to the beach, or going out to dinner.
Bertha later moved to Berlin where she raised her children and became a parishioner of St. Paul's Church. Bertha was an avid runner and she was also known for her baking skills and she enjoyed making baked goods while listening to the sounds of Frank Sinatra and she always shared her desserts with her friends and coworkers.
Bertha is survived by her two sons that were her pride and joy. Christopher, and his wife Christine of Middletown, and John, and his wife Dorothy of Berlin. Bertha is also survived by her loving grandchildren Nicole, Taylor, Nikki, Kyle, and Karolina and cherished watching them grow up and attending their sporting events. Bertha is survived by her sister in-law Alice Chudecki, Carol Carlone, Rose Veneziano and her husband James as well as her brother-in-law Charles Carlone and his wife Karen, and her cousin Rita Sobieraj and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Chudecki and his wife Pauline, brother Stanley Chudecki, sister Anne Sobieraj and brother-in-law Carl Carlone.
Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Southington Care Center Staff, especially the 2nd floor, where they provided wonderful care for Bertha for the last three years.

Bertha and I had a nice visit just a few weeks ago. She will be missed. I enjoyed working with her in the ER back in the day. Shopping was always her favorite pass time. Not only did she bake great desserts. But she made the best coffee. So many fond memories of Bertha. May she Rest In Peace .

What a lovely person. I worked with Bertha for many years on the NBGH ICU-CVU during the 1970s and 1980s. Her patients and coworkers loved her. I know she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. My heartfelt condolences to all.
