James Orr Obituary

PLAINVILLE

James Byam Orr, Jr., 66, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday October 16, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1959 in Bristol, the son of Ruth G. (O'Brien) Orr and the late James Byam Orr, Sr.

James was a proposal manager in military engines for RTX (Pratt & Whitney). He was a graduate of Bristol Central High School and Central Connecticut State University. Jim was a lifelong member of the Bristol Fish and Game Association. He loved boating and fishing on Candlewood Lake with his dad, photography and his red Camaro. He was an avid fan of Penn State and UConn Football.

In addition to his mother of Bristol, he is survived by his sister, Nancy (Jack) Scalia of Bristol; his nephew and nieces, Jeffrey Scalia, Kathryn Scalia and Kimberly (Matthew) Ruppel and their children, Theo, Fiona and Wesley Ruppel. He also leaves special cousins, Glenna (Rick) Cadorette and David (Nadine) Lavoie and uncle Raymond Lavoie.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, CT. The burial will be privately held at the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery.
