Maureen (O'Brien) Houlihan, 81, of New Britain, passed away peacefully Friday, April 23, 2021 with her daughters Laurie and Bonnie by her side. Maureen was born in New Britain on January 6, 1940 and was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Scanlon) O'Brien. She was a lifelong resident and a graduate of New Britain High School in 1957. Maureen was employed by Travelers Insurance and Federal Savings Bank from which she retired.
Maureen leaves behind her daughters Laurie Haynes and Bonnie Koller from Maine, her step-son Christoper Houlihan and his wife Ann, Patrick and Susie Houlihan and their children Elizabeth, Adam, Aaron and Kymberli, her sister Patricia (Patty) Goulet of Farmington, her grandchildren, Richard Dyer and Stephen Koller, her great grandchildren, Coiltin, Melodee, Skylar and Ivy Rose. Maureen was predeceased by her husband Richard Houlihan. Special thanks and gratitude go to all the staff at Berlin VNA and Hospital of Central CT for the wonderful care and support over the past year and most recently to the staff at Bel-Air Manor of Newington. Thank you to her aide Lisa for the many years of care provided and the support of her friend Pam Almada.
A Celebration of Maureen's life will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main St., New Britain. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. The Paul A. Shaker Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave., New Britain, has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association
