Stefan Stok Obituary
Stefan Stoj, age 99, of New Britain died on November 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Poland, Stefan was the youngest son of 8 children. He met and married his wife, Sophia (Zosia) and raised two sons. They soon became American citizens, residing first in Vermont before settling in New Britain, CT. He worked at Atlantic Tools and Flanagan Brothers as a tool maker.
Stefan spent many happy days gardening, cooking, cheering on his sons and grandchildren at soccer matches and teaching them Polish language and culture. He will be remembered for his good humor, practicality, and kindness.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sophia Stoj, his sons and daughters-in-law, Marion Stoj, Deborah Downes-Stoj and Bogdan Stoj and Maria Gibilisco Stoj, grandchildren, Amelia Stoj, Allyson Stoj, Christopher Stoj, Victoria Stoj, Alessandra Stoj Goetz, namesake Stefanie Stoj, and great granddaughters Parker and Emerson Clem-Stoj and Scarlet Goetz.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 16th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. Funeral Services will start on Friday, November 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain at 9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
