Dalko, I first learned of you as a 9 year old Little Leaguer. A rumor had made its way from Stockton to Pasadena, CA about some guy throwing 'lethal octane' for a minor league team up north. Then my Dad spotted you in Time Magazine. I was hooked and so were all the other kids in the neighborhood. We all wanted to be Steve Dalkowski "The Fastest Ever." Turns out that I became a pitching coach. I have instructed and worked with 1000s of pitchers from pee wees to MLB Cy Young Award Winners. If god were to grant me a couple of baseball wishes, the first would be to see you pitch ... 2nd Maris 61st HR. You are the last of an era, the last of 'the legends' and the last of the game played at another level. May you enjoy sharing stories about your 'heat' with Duren, Barney, Paige, et al. Love ya man! My deepest sympathy to his sister Patricia. Steve's family lived 2 doors from us. My Dad always talked about Steve & the memories he had of him. Steve & my Dad were able to have a short phone conversation in Summer of 2012' shortly before my Dad passed away.

I was ten years old when Steve signed with the Orioles. Our family lived in the Corbin Heights housing project in New Britain. The Dalkowski family lived there also, on Governor Street. My dad and Steve's dad worked at Stanley Works. I can remember traveling to Pynchon Park in Springfield with my dad and Steve's dad when Steve played for the Elmira Pioneers. The legend Earl Weaver was the manager of Elmira and visited with us prior to the game. Great memories that have been with me for over sixty years. Rest in peace, Steve.

My sincere sympathy to his sister Patricia. My family lived 2 doors down from the Dalkowskis. My Dad always talked about Steve & wondered thru the years how he was doing. I was glad they were able to speak briefly on the phone in 2012' shortly before my Dad passed away. R.I.P. Steve. So sad to hear.

Steve Dalkowski was a true legend. I only wish I could have seen him pitch. My condolences to his family; may he rest in peace.

Growing up in Connecticut, Mr. Dalkowski was always a favorite of mine. His career was an inspiration to me as I pursued my baseball ambitions. I have 4 copies of his rookie card. He will always be remembered by true baseball fans.
May God welcome him with open arms to heaven and may he rest in peace.
