Annie Colwell Elliot
Aug 26, 1961 - Apr 20, 2021. Annie Colwell Elliot, of Pine Grove, California passed away on April 20, 2021 at the age of 59, in Tybee Island, Georgia where her sister, Denise Elliot-Vernon, provided loving home care for her for the past 15 months. Annie was born August 26, 1961 in Nashua, New Hampshire to Neil Colwell Elliot and Alice Louise Elliot.
She leaves her Mother, Alice Elliot of New Milford, Connecticut; her brother, Peter Elliot of Norfolk, Connecticut; her sister, Debbie Elliot of Volcano, California; her sister, Denise Elliot-Vernon of Tybee Island, Georgia; her sister, Mary Coon of Mancos, Colorado; 3 nieces and 7 nephews. She also leaves her beloved pug dog, Birdie B, rescued from a golf course in Pioneer, California as a puppy.
Annie loved basketball and played competitively at New Milford High School, in New Milford, Connecticut and at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. As a Recreation and Sports Therapy major at Green Mountain, she distinguished herself academically and athletically. She later became a basketball official and was an avid Sacramento Kings fan.
Annie also loved music and played the flute in the New Milford High School marching and symphonic bands. She was accepted to various university Music Programs based on the talent she demonstrated in her auditions. She also played the guitar, the piccolo and the harmonica.
She was a fun loving person who liked to challenge herself, play sports and games, travel, and entertain friends and family. She sought to live life to its fullest. Her family vividly remembers Annie riding a unicycle and playing basketball at the same time, and playing the guitar and harmonica at the same time. She loved playing and winning at poker and had plans to play on the World Poker Tour.
Annie enlisted in the US Army Reserve in the 1980s and served as a dental technician in a New Haven, Connecticut-based unit for several years. During this time she deployed to Honduras on a Humanitarian Assistance mission, assisting dentists who provided life-saving and critical dental procedures to impoverished people in Honduras.
Professionally, Annie graduated from California State University at Sacramento on May 27, 1995, with a Bachelor's Degree in Geology and worked as a professional geologist in the Sacramento area for some time. She later started and ran two of her own businesses -- Elliot Insurance Services (EIS) in Pine Grove, CA, helping area seniors best meet their health care needs. In an effort to help her community and bring joy to people, she began another business, called The Sweet Kernal. This was a Kettle Corn Business, giving part of its profits to local charities. One of Annie's life-long goals was to make the world a better place for people.
Annie will be dearly missed by loving family members, friends, and clients. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests donations be made, in Annie's name, to the Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation of Sacramento CA (web site is https://albieaware.org/
). Annie's family is deeply grateful to this organization for the care and comfort they provided when it was most needed. The family is also grateful for those who have so generously given their love and support to Annie and her family.
