It is with much sorrow that the family of David Brian Blodgett announce his serene passing at 64 years old on November 22nd, 2025 in his home in Storrs, CT. Throughout his life he loved his family very much and is survived by girlfriend Doreen Olsson, father John Blodgett, daughter Brienna Blodgett, former wife Julie Beardsley Blodgett and girlfriends daughter Cassandra Olsson. In addition to immediate family he had many aunts and cousins. He is also predeceased by his mother Patricia Blodgett and daughter Jennilee Blodgett.
David was born in Danbury, CT in 1960. He attended Henry Abbot Tech High School studying machine tool & dye. He graduated in 1978.
He had a lifelong passion for animals. He always had a dog by his side and left behind his dog Roscoe. He also had a strong adoration for birds and left behind Chirpy the lovebird.
He had a profound love for lighthouses, which are often seen as the symbol of hope, strength, unwavering spirit and guidance with their enduring lights. He sought out and photographed local lighthouses every time he traveled.
Seven years ago he found a renewed purpose in life through his commitment to sobriety. He will surely be remembered for his impact in the recovery community for he attended meetings daily and helped many others as often as possible. He surely left us too soon and while his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love will continue to inspire us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 6th from 1 – 3 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home. The address is 58 Bridge Street in New Milford, CT. If anyone in attendance would like to say a few words they will be given an opportunity to do so.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for all the love and support shown during this hard time. To help create a lasting memorial for David, the family asks that in lieu of flowers friends consider contributing towards the cost of a headstone for his grave site.
