Jeremiah J. O'Brien
With heavy hearts we announce the gentle passing of our beloved Dad and Obie, Jeremiah J. "OB" O'Brien who passed away at home Tuesday May 25, 2021 at the age of 76. Jerry was born in Brooklyn, NY, December 15, 1944, son of the late Humphrey and Mary (O'Connell) O'Brien. While very young he met and kept lifelong friends and the love of his life, Joni, who passed in 2018. Their marriage spanned more than 50 years and they no doubt picked up right where they left off. Together they leave behind a son Jeremiah O'Brien Jr. of Kent, CT and daughter Heather Hannan and her husband Matthew of Kent, CT; grandchildren, Emma, Jack, Chloe and Hank of Kent, CT. A salesman through and through, he came across many friends while selling Graduation Caps and Gowns from his early days until his passing. He was strong, charming, reassuring, and generous. His laugh could be heard simply by hearing his name, you knew it was coming. He had a dry wit and a big heart. He always had a story to share. No one understood the value of friendship and laughter more than Dad, what else is the point, he would say. He loved to travel and spent many summers in his mother's birthplace, the village of Eyeries, Ireland with friends that became family over a pint or two. His love and support for his children and grandchildren was never ending. Jerry was a fixture at sporting events no matter how far, he loved to watch them play and when he wasn't he could be seen jogging or walking, he rarely missed a day. Forever in our hearts. Always in control, even in his passing, on his own terms with dignity, peace and a grin that won't ever be forgotten. Dad, we will see you later and we can hear him say, not if I see you first. We ask that in lieu of donations, you call a friend and share a laugh, remember the good times and promise to make more. Take care of each other. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.

Always remember Jerry with a big smile. He would come into Washington Pharmacy with that smile, that laugh and his kindness. Loved him! My deepest condolences to you, Tucker..our neighbor and friend and to the family. Your Dad and grandfather was a wonderful man and I know he'll be deeply missed.
