Maureen G. Church, age 88, passed away on Thursday October 21st, 2021, in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Maureen was born December 5th, 1932, in Waterbury, Connecticut to James and Gertrude Purcell. Maureen graduated from Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph N. Church, that same year. Maureen and Joe were blessed with 4 children. They moved to Newtown CT in 1962 and then to New Milford, CT in 1969 before retiring to Naples, FL in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude, her siblings Joyce, John and Jerry, her grandson Joshua, son Michael and her husband of 49 years, Joe. She is survived by five siblings Lorraine, Mary, Jim, Todd and Debbie, her 3 children Gail Morris (Bob), Bill (Katie) and Brian (Christine), her 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. Service will be held at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida, at 10AM, Saturday, December 11th, 2021, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Joe and son Michael. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed with cherished memories of their time with Maureen, her sense of humor and overwhelming love for her family.
Maureen worked for the DeVoe Realty company for over 20 years and her greatest thrill was to match customers with their dream home. She especially took pride helping young people buy their first home. She had many wonderful stories including being part of selling Dustin Hoffman his home in Roxbury, or the day she spent with Raquel Welsh looking at homes or the great relationship she had with Stephen Sondheim. She told a great story about selling the Castle, near Kent, CT. She loved to dance and had the beat to the end. She will be missed by us all.
