J.C. Pack

J.C. Pack, age 96, went to be with his heavenly father on April 23, 2023.

He was a man of integrity, humility, and great faith. He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the rock of his family and loved his wife, Peggy, with all his heart. We could feel the love and respect that he cultivated among our little family, friends, and neighbors. We are blessed to have had him so long on this earth and are comforted to know that all is well with his soul. He was a faithful member and deacon of Denton Baptist Church and his church family was an important part of his life.

J.C. was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and during this time he and Peggy lived in many places including California, New Mexico, and Arizona before J.C. left for Japan. As the eldest son of his family, he served in the Army the same time as two of his brothers, Frank, and Everette. He retired from American Enka. J.C. loved farming, growing crops and shared more that he kept, while enjoying talking with people who stopped by to visit. He had a great love for animals, as they did him, and always had pets.

He was preceded in death by his father Noah Clayton, mother Kate Fish Pack. Sisters: Gladys (Joe Frank) Turner; Jewelene (Arnold) Ball; Brothers: Frank (Clarene Woody) Pack, Everette Pack; Jack (Irolla Ball) Pack; Sister-in laws Evelyn (John) Hatley; Alma (Esmond) Baxter; Ruth (J.l.) Ford, and Betty (Ven) Ball, Brother-in laws; Nick (Ramona Grooms) Greene, and Buddy George Greene Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years Peggy Lou Greene Pack, daughter Patricia Joy (Keith) Ketterman and son Timothy J. (Janice Moore) Pack, grandchildren; Deede Dyke (Jason) Cogdill, Jamison (Taleea Ball) Pack, Jamie Dyke (Sam) Newport, Jordan (Deborah Riley) Pack, Melody Ketterman (Timothy) Greenhouse, Greggory (Jenny Harrell) Ketterman and great- grandchildren; Kobe Cogdill, Lorelei Pack, Molly Ketterman, Lillie Sartin, Luca Sartin; Sister-in-law; Irene Pack; special cousin; Joye Ball, along with several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to friends and caregivers, Dr. James Williams, Dr. Thomas Conway, and the staff of Newport Primary Care, Denton Baptist Church, Karen and Randall Bible, Fred and Ruth Spence, Dave and Helen Duvall, Debbie Yelton, Karen Sisk, Dottie Ledford, June Steele, and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their support, prayers, and love.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a donation be made to Denton Baptist Church or an organization of one's choice.

Funeral Service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Ball officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home.
