MAHOMET - Betty Lape, 82, of Mahomet died at 10:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 10, 2025) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar St., Mahomet.

Betty was a great friend in Traverse City when I moved there in 2003. She and Doug became good friends with Gordon and I immediately. We traveled together and played together. They visited us in Tucson several winters. This is a photo of Terry Fogle, Gail McCormick, Ann Witkop and myself.

Met Betty in Junior High. Became good friends over our years in Band. Picture from week of 50th class reunion. Betty was a wonderful person and I was so glad she was in my life.

I have so many wonderful memories of Betty from having milk and cookies after school in her Mom's kitchen to high school band trips to football games to some amazing times together later in life. She was the most kind, amazing, and beautiful soul anyone could ever meet and know, Love and comfort to Doug and Family.

Betty and I were friends from grade school and my husband, Bob Miller was a buddy of her husband Doug in high school in Benton Harbor, MI. We reconnected in the 1990s while we all lived in Traverse City, MI.
