FARMER CITY – Charles Pius Harpenau, 75, of Rural Route 2, Farmer City, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services, Normal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today, July 19, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmer City, with Father James Henning, O.F.M. Conv., officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City. A rosary service was at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Harpenau was born on Aug. 2, 1931, at Waynesville, son of Joseph K. and Agnes Schneider Harpenau. He married Helena Kay Allen on Feb. 6, 1965, in Bloomington.
He is survived by wife, Helena Kay Harpenau of Rural Route 2, Farmer City; two sons, David Karl (Debra) Harpenau of Farmer City and Anthony Charles (Heidi Wilson) Harpenau of Clinton; two grandchildren, Jessica and Todd Harpenau of Farmer City; one brother, Irvin (Cornelia) Harpenau of Rural Route 1, LeRoy; and three sisters, Viola Deom of Tell City, Ind., and Rita Harpenau of Rural Route 2, Farmer City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Theresa Kay Harpenau; five brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Harpenau was a farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmer City.
