NICEVILLE, Fla. – A graveside service for Dorothy M. Gladding, 91, of Niceville, Fla., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
Ms. Gladding died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Manor at Bluewater Bay in Niceville, Fla., where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Urbana George and Ethel Winter Johnson. She married George Earle Gladding on June 27, 1936. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Gladding of Urbana and Gill Gladding of Miramar Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Ms. Gladding graduated from Urbana High School and worked for several years as a hair stylist before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She was active in parent booster activities for Urbana High School, was an ardent Illini fan and loved to play bridge with her close friends. Dorothy was especially known fo
her wonderful sense of humor and her love of entertaining. Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Manor at Bluewater Bay for their love and attentive care during her final years.
