DANVILLE - George Jimson III, affectionately known as "Spanky," passed away peacefully on Sunday (Sept. 21, 2025).
He was born on Nov. 13, 1955, in Danville, to the late George Jimson Jr. and Ora Jimson. George was baptized at Union Baptist Church and later became a devoted member of New Life Church of Faith. He attended Garfield Elementary School, North Ridge Middle School and graduated from Danville High School in 1973. During his school years, George stood out as a talented athlete, excelling in both baseball and basketball.
He dedicated 32 years of hard work to TeePak before retiring in 2008.
On Aug. 3, 1974, George married the love of his life, Marilyn Randle. They shared 51 beautiful years together. He often called her his "secret weapon" - her wisdom, strength and problem-solving instincts were a guiding force in his life.
Spanky was a beloved "Paw-Paw" to his grandchildren and "Uncle Spanky" to so many others. His heart was big enough for everyone. Whether you were family by blood or by love, Spanky made you feel like you belonged. His laughter, kindness and unwavering support left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Throughout his life, George was involved in many meaningful pursuits. He was a proud member of the gospel group The Junior Gospelaires, and spent time coaching the softball team The Bad News Girls alongside his late brother-in-law, Roosevelt Cunningham. In his heyday, he brought the jams as a DJ for WYOU radio and later served as the host of the Good Sunday Morning radio broadcast, sharing messages of faith and encouragement with the community. And, of course, anyone who knew George knew he kept his cars spotless - and he made sure his children and grandchildren kept their bikes just as clean.
George leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Marilyn Dorothy Jimson; mother, Ora Jimson; baby girl, Briana Jimson-Vaughn; special son, Forrest Rashad Puckett; grandchildren, Aliyah Nicole Jimson, Desiree' Shantell Isaac, Brittney Deshea Isaac and Angelo Vaughn Bernal; and great-grandchildren, Ayden Amere Boyd and Harmony Skye Davis. And he was so, so, so, so excited to meet his new grandbaby in February 2026. He is remembered with love by his brothers, Martin Dean Jimson and Michael Ross (Erdell) Jimson; baby sister, Tanisha Michelle (Jimson) Allen; along with his aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
George was preceded in death by his daughter Carlotta Camille Jimson; father, George Jimson Jr.; grandfather, George Jimson Sr.; and sister Georgia Mae Seward.
