Jeffry Ross
Champaign - Jeffry "Jeff" Alan Ross, 77, was called home to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, in Champaign.
Born in Chicago on Dec. 4, 1947, Jeff lived a life rooted in faith, family and fellowship.
As a child, Jeff lived in Chicago with his parents and siblings, Sharon (Brian) Thiel and Mark Ross. After moving to Danville, he met Stephanie (Tabels) Ross, his beloved wife of 54 years. Together they raised seven children: Tiffany (Ryan) Queen, Seth Ross, Joanna (Cody) Smith, Sarah (Oren) Matteson, Nathan (Lindsey) Ross, Larissa (Larry) Jackson and Jack (Thanh) Ross. Jeff was a treasured grandpa to 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jeff cherished time with family - gathering for birthdays, holidays and Sunday dinners. Known for his humor, wit and sarcasm, his personality permeated every occasion. Jeff shared Christ's love through daily interactions and served at local churches and outreach programs. His door was always open to others, and he built deep, family-like friendships marked by authenticity and generosity. He encouraged his loved ones to extend grace, forgive freely and serve others.
Jeff was a vibrant part of the Danville/Champaign rock 'n' roll scene from the 1960s through the 1980s. From lead singer of The Villagers to managing bands like Screams, he left a mark on the music community. A true entrepreneur, he built businesses around classic cars and high-performance parts while also managing commercial properties.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 4 at Stonecreek Church, Urbana, followed by a celebration of life at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Living Alternatives (memo: Merci's Refuge), P.O. Box 1555,
