JoAnn Day Obituary

JoAnn Day Danville - JoAnn Day, 93, of Danville passed away at 4:12 p.m. Friday (Nov. 28, 2025) at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. JoAnn was born on Nov. 17, 1932, the daughter of Walter and Doris (Ogg) Johnson, in Allerton. She married Robert Edward Day on Nov. 9, 1951, in Nashville, Tenn., and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2012. JoAnn is survived by her children, Jeff (Mary Jo) Day of Danville, Cynthia (Ron) Strzelecki of Indiana and Jane (Hank) Hyche of Georgia; three grandchildren, Dustin (Danielle) Day of Mahomet, Paula Jo (Jake) Crose of Chicago and Ryne Strzelecki of Indiana; as well as three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Day, Colton Day and Nolan Day. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Day; four siblings, Betty Rutan, Mildred Goff, Thelma Brash and Bill Johnson; as well as one great-granddaughter, Alison Crose. JoAnn enjoyed spending her free time knitting and loved taking care of her flower beds around her home. Private family services will be held, and Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Joann and her mother lived across the street from my family. She loved my mother, Madolyn Moss, and remembered her even when she was having a bad day. I will miss going to see her. She was a wonderful lady.p
