MAHOMET - John R. Antonacci of Mahomet passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 13, surrounded by loved ones.
John was born June 20, 1947, son to Sivio and Grace (DiGiacomo) Antonacci. He married Becky A Heninger on Jan. 31, 1969.
John served his country as a member of the Marine Corps from 1965-1969. He worked for Interstate Brands for 40 years, until his retirement in 2010, working his way up from bread delivery driver to general sales manager.
John was a hardworking man, a devoted husband and father, and a loving grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John loved to golf. When he was not working or with his family, he could often be found with his friends at Lake of the Woods golf course.
He is survived by his wife Becky; his son Jim Chase of Franklin; daughter Kim (Troy) Boley of Mahomet; grandchildren Katlyn (Correy) Wygant, DJ Boley, Zach (Lee), Josh, and Miranda Chase, Ashley and Stephen (Jenn) Boley; great-grandchildren Kendyl, Carter, Melanie, Camden, Vera, Brayden, Tristin, Jace, and Rosie; his two sisters, Donna (Ric) Rowe and Marleen (Tom) Grim; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
In accordance with family wishes, John will be cremated, and friends may greet the family at a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home (102 E. Dunbar) in Mahomet. Father Joe Hogan will officiate a memorial service at 7. John's cremated remains will be buried at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, at noon Friday, Dec. 22, with a Marine Corps Honor Guard providing military rites.
