MONTICELLO - Michael R. Moore, 71, of Monticello passed away at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Michael was born May 5, 1953, in Urbana, to Robert and Joanne (Rodehaver) Moore. He married Ginna Gail Mahin on Aug. 18, 1979, in Mahomet. She passed away May 15, 2024.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Jordan (Mark) Neal of Dayton, Ohio, and Savannah Schweig of Monticello; son, Austin (Kaitlyn) Moore of Champaign; five grandchildren; his mother, Joanne Wascher of Mahomet; brother, Robert Moore of Bradenton, Fla.; and sister, Julie (Jim) Clapper of Mahomet.
He was preceded in death by his father and wife.
Michael was a retired custodian for the Mahomet Seymour school district. Michael was a lover of all things barbecue and won several awards for his cooking. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed fishing.
A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the Lake of the Woods Pavilion, Mahomet. Food and fellowship will immediately follow the service until 10 p.m. Please wear your favorite Hawaiian or Chicago Bears shirt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Piatt County Animal Shelter. Condolences may be sent to the family at mackey-wrightfuneralhome.com.

Mike was one of those people that was always glad to see you, had a smile and a chuckle that was only his. A talented musician as well, and loved a good time. You will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
