Philip Barr Obituary

CISCO - Philip D. "Butch" Barr, 69, of Cisco, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Brady officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Butch was born July 23, 1940, in Blue Ridge Township, the son of Lewis and Della (Thompson) Barr. He married Judy Adams on Dec. 11, 1960, in Monticello.

Surviving is his wife, Judy Barr of Cisco; daughter, Sarah Barr Stoddard of Monticello; brother, Lyle (Bernadine) Barr of Monticello; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Danne, and a sister, Peggy Blanchard.

Butch retired from the maintenance department at Firestone.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Champaign and the Craig Reed American Legion Post 1181 of Cisco.

Butch also enjoyed woodworking and yard work.

Memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church of Champaign 4001 W. Kirby Ave. Champaign, IL 61822.
