CHAMPAIGN – Richard G. Western, 63, of Champaign died Thursday, July 9,
2009, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.
He was born Jan. 2, 1946, in Jacksonville, the son of Amos and Frances Moxon Western.
He is survived by his mother, Frances Western of Jacksonville; his sister, Janet Western of Jacksonville; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Western, and two brothers, Steve Western and Kent Western.
Mr. Western was a 1964 graduate of Jacksonville High School
and received his degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1968. He served in the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Western was employed in the insurance business before becoming a computer consultant. He served as the house adviser for the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at the University of Illinois-Champaign for over 40 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July
14, 2009, at Williamson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with burial at Asbury Cemetery.
Family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
