Monticello - Robert Lee Sinclair, 96, of Monticello passed away Friday (Dec. 11, 2025) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born in Kinmundy on June 14, 1929, the son of Clyde and Mary Sinclair. On June 6, 1954, Bob married Marilyn Harris, and they spent 62 wonderful years together before her passing in 2016.
Bob is survived by his children, Laura (Kevan) Parrett, Stan (Sherry) Sinclair, Sara (Troy De Mond) Sinclair and Curt (Heather) Sinclair; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with one on the way. He is also survived by his sisters Genelle Furrow and Joanne Jahraus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Lloyd and Vernon; and sisters Imogene, Nita, Stella and Helen.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Bob served his country honorably during the Korean War.
Bob was a devoted educator and esteemed school administrator, spending most of his career in the Mahomet school district. He dedicated his professional life to fostering the growth and development of students and educators alike.
Beyond his career, Bob had many interests and passions. He found great joy in woodworking and was particularly skilled at refinishing antique furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and listening to his favorite baseball team, the Cardinals. After retirement, he and Marilyn volunteered with the American Red Cross, helping with disaster relief across the country.
A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held at the Mahomet United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m., with a visitation to follow until 4 p.m.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Road, is honored to assist Bob's family with funeral arrangements.

I got a swat from him in 6th grade but he was always one of my favorite principals - awesome man from an era when Mahomet was a small town.

My condolences to the family. Mr. Sinclair was a wonderful role model for the many students that passed through the MS School system. I always admired him - always dressed in a suit and tie everyday and personable with every student! I am sure he will be missed!
