Rosemary Charters

Rosemary T. Charters Pittsburg, Kan. - Rosemary (Peterson) Charters was born Nov. 28, 1938, to Carl and Mary (Slomkoski) Peterson in St. Paul, Minn. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 22, 2025. She graduated Columbia Heights HS, Columbia Heights, Minn., in 1956 and married LeRoy Charters on May 16, 1963, in San Diego. They raised their three children, Timothy, Marybeth, and Patrick, in Champaign. She worked as a telephone operator in Minneapolis and as an office manager for Catholic Charities in Champaign. She spent her time volunteering for the Sunflower Kiwanis, Lords' Diner, St. Mary's Bargain Corner, Widows Group, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes. In her free time, Rosemary enjoyed cheering on the Pitt State women's basketball team, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Dennis, husband LeRoy, son Timothy, and two lifelong friends, Larna Shultz and Donna Rech. She is survived by Marybeth (Paul) Grimes, Patrick (Brenda) Charters, and her grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Beth, Adam, Maryroze, and Spalding, and her eight great-grandchildren, with one due in June 2026. Rosary will be said Sunday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m., at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, Kan. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes, Pittsburg, Kan. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Foley, Minn.
