Stanley Lynch Obituary

URBANA - Stanley "Stan" Eugene Lynch, 68, of Urbana passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at 9 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1956, in Urbana, to Glenn "Gene" and Emma Lynch. From an early age, Stan never met a stranger and could find humor in almost everything. He married the love of his life, Susan Graham, on May 9, 1981, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love and the occasional well-timed eye roll. A proud 1975 graduate of Urbana High School and member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Stan became a journeyman electrician and joined IBEW Local 601 in 1978. He and Sue started S.E. Lynch Electric in 1986, later merging with Remco Electric in 1995, where Stan worked until his well-earned retirement in June 2023. He also gave back to the trade he loved, serving on the IBEW apprenticeship committee for more than 17 years.

When he wasn't wiring buildings, Stan was building memories. He coached both of his daughters in Urbana softball, where he formed lifelong friendships and probably invented a few new softball sayings along the way.

Affectionately known as "Stan the Man," he was a man of great character, quick wit and a grill master. His infectious laugh and storytelling could light up any room. Together with Susan, he welcomed everyone with open arms, whether it was a holiday gathering, a summer pool day, or just an ordinary weeknight. "Just one more" was always open for laughter, good company and friendship.

Stan was an avid golfer, known for his humor on the course. When asked how he shot, his standard reply was always, "Often." He also had a deep love of fishing and looked forward to each year's trips to Pine Point, Minn., with his cousin Tad, uncle Jerry and close friends. He was grateful to make one last trip in September and proudly passed his love of fishing (and a few tall tales) on to his grandsons.

Stan and Susan also treasured their many visits to the family condo in St. Pete Beach, where they soaked up sunshine, shared laughter with friends, and proved that "just one more" wasn't limited to their Urbana home.

A passionate sports fan, Stan's favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals, fittingly so, as he was named after Stan Musial. Stan also rooted for the Fighting Illini and Chicago Bears, often loudly and colorfully. Above all, Stan's favorite team was his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan; daughters, Nichole (David) Isaac and Courtney Lynch (Craig); and adored grandsons, Braden and Bennett Isaac. He is also survived by many cherished family members, including his in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and countless dear friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lori Lynch Hall; and uncle Jerry Lynch, who likely greeted him with a cold beer and a warm hug.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, Savoy.

Memorial contributions may be made to IBEW 601, where a memorial in Stan's honor will be established, or the VFW 630.

Stan lived large, laughed often, and loved deeply. And if there's a golf course, grill or fishing boat in heaven, there's no doubt he's already claimed the best spot.

I will miss you my friend. We brought up our girls on Delaware street. We always took the family to the county fair, the girls Softball games and took the girls around the neighborhood for their candy and our "trick or drink" while Anita and Sue stayed home and passed out candy every Halloween. Whether it was you running down the street with the Cardinal flag after a win against the cubs it was me using a bull horn to announce a Cub win. Our families had many years together that will be forever lasting memories.
