DANVILLE - Ted McDowell, 80, of Georgetown passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2025) surrounded by those he loved.
Per his wishes, there will be no public services.
Ted was born on Aug. 30, 1945, to Ray and Lois (Whitlock) McDowell. He was raised along with his two brothers in the Westville area. Ted graduated from Georgetown High School in 1963 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the 178th Signal Company during the Vietnam War for a year. Upon returning from the service, he began work at Hyster, where he would spend 45 years as a lift truck builder until his retirement in 2009.
Ted married Vicki Rollins on July 26, 1969, at First Church of Christ in Georgetown. The two would then spend the next 29 years together before her passing in July 1998. When he wasn't working, Ted enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Ted leaves behind his two daughters, Kimberly S. (Toby) Koontz and Sarah (Mark) Olson; and four grandchildren, whom he adored, Jacob Johnson, Seth Johnson, Emma Koontz and Victoria Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vicki; and two brothers, Kim and Ned McDowell.
