MANSFIELD - Vernon "Butch" Kemplin, 93, was born in 1931 on Christmas day and passed peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025.
He was a self-taught golfer who had two holes-in-one at Woodlawn Country Club.
He was a Navy man right out of high school and retired from the post office as a rural mail carrier.
Butch was known to hum, sing and whistle old standards. He was an avid record collector and was known to play Christmas music year-round. Butch was often jotting down his creative golf tips, recipes, poems and stories.
He is survived by his wife and favorite girl, Margaret Bateman Kemplin; and children and their families, Kevin Kemplin, Julie (John) Pagels, Kelly Hoffmann and Randy (Susan) Kemplin. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.
