Audrey Alford Obituary

Audrey Dawson Alford, 86, of Newbury Township, passed away July 14, 2011, at Corinne Dolan Center.
Born June 5, 1925, in Ashington, England, she had been a resident of Newbury Township for more than 50 years.
Audrey received her bachelor's degree from Kent State University and her master's degree from Cleveland State University. Audrey Dawson married George Cade Alford Nov. 30, 1957.
She was a medical technologist at Geauga Community Hospital until her retirement in 1990.
Audrey was a member of Newbury United Community Church. She loved travel, golf, playing cards, and her work. She was past board member of the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and was also active in numerous other community service roles.
Survivors are her sons, Alan Alford of Newbury Township, Dr. William (Linda) Scott Alford of North Canton and Edward (Shannon) McCade Alford of Upper Arlington; four grandchildren, Cameron (Alisha) Alford, Amanda (Jeremy) Webb, Riley Alford and Audrey Leigh Alford; and two great-grandchildren: Levin Alford and Xavier Alford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Cade Alford; parents, Matthew and Gertrude Dawson; brother, Matthew Dawson; and an infant sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (Route. 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Newbury Center Cemetery. The Rev. Harriett Culp of Newbury United Community Church will officiate.
Arrangements are being handled by The Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
