Charles Barton Obituary

Memorial services for Charles E. "Chuckles" Barton, 66, of Mentor, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave, Mentor. The Rev. Kurt E. Landerholm will officiate at the service.
Mr. Barton passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home.
Born July 22, 1949 in Ashtabula, he was a longtime resident of Garrettsville before moving to Mentor 14 yrs ago.
He was an active member of Mentor United Methodist Church and the Lion's Club.
Chuck spent many years performing as Chuckles the Clown. He enjoyed entertaining people with his magic and face painting.
Mr. Barton was employed at Progressive Insurance Co.
Survivors are his wife of 14 years, Kathy (nee: Dunzweiler) (Rhodes) Barton; son, Brett Barton; step-children, Chris (Eileen) Sliwinski, Stephanie (Brian) McCully, and Robert (Heidi) Rhodes; grandchildren, Teagan, Sarah, Megan and Victor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Geraldine Barton and stepson, Paul Sliwinski.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Mentor United Methodist Church.

bill and i are so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. so glad i saw him at the last class reunion. we were able to talk about handicapped children and i pursued his advice about some of the services for our granddaughter. His father and my mother worked at Nymold in garrettsville while we were classmates.

Chuck was a great co-worker and a wonderful, caring person. We missed him when he retired in December and its a tribute to him that we still have callers that ask about about him. Thoughts and prayers to his family. God Bless you all.
