Doris Foster
On Thursday, 18 March, 2021, Doris (Collin) Foster, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 96 in Charlotte, NC. Kind, thoughtful, inquisitive and communicative to the end, her aging body could no longer support her wishes for new experiences.Doris was born in Kirtland, Ohio to John and Frances Collin.She graduated from the Andrews School in 1942.She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1951 and served on the faculty from 1952 to 1963. She worked as a craftsperson at Potter & Mellen for about the same period.A silversmith, her work included being accepted for display at the Cleveland Museum of Art and exhibit at the American Craftsmen’s Educational Council.She married Roger Foster in 1951 and together raised a wonderful family in Kirtland.She worked as an art director at the Willoughby Fine Arts Association, from 1972 to 1989.She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ - Kirtland Restoration Branch.After retirement, Roger and Doris enjoyed many years of travel, visiting friends and family, including a couple of trips to Montana, spending winters in South Carolina and returning for Summers in Ohio.A long life well lived.She rejoins those who preceded her in passing, her husband Roger, father John, mother Frances, a brother John, and sisters Frances and Lillian..Doris is survived by:A son Matt, Los Alamos, NM.A son Keith, daughter-in-law Cheryl and granddaughters Katie, Mackenzie and a grandson Nicholas, Florence, SC.A daughter Janet, son-in-law Tom and grandsons Chad, Colton and Carter, Burke, VA.A son Chad, daughter-in-law Karen and grandsons Drew and Shaun, Charlotte, NC.A graveside service will be held at Kirtland North Cemetery on Saturday, 26 June, 2021 at 1200 hours.
