Henry Vincenty Obituary

Henry E. Vincenty, age 77, of Sagamore Hills, a husband, father, grandfather, Boy Scout master, outdoorsman, sailor, boat builder, woodworker, mechanical engineer, author and lover of all things bright and beautiful died Dec. 6, 2011.
Born Feb. 4, 1934, in Cecil Township, Pa., he was the son of Henry J. Vincenty, a coal miner and family farmer, and Ann E. Gazvoda, a homemaker.
He graduated high school in and attended Fenn College of Engineering. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and served in West Germany.
He married Shirley Polaski of Canonsburg, Pa., in November 1954. In 1956, he returned to Cleveland and began employment at the Euclid Road Machinery Company, retiring from the engineering department in 1991.
Hank spent his retirement sailing and writing about it through his memberships in the Cleveland Amateur Boat Building and Boating Society, the Lake Erie Tartan Sailors, and the Sandusky Sailing Club.
He is survived by his wife and fellow sailor, Paula Smith; four sons, Michael (Virginia) of San Francisco, Calif., Christopher (Lisa) of Bar Harbor, Maine, Phillip (Laurel) of Ellicott City, Md., and Dominic (Heather) of Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Susan (Thomas) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii and Melissa (James) of Kailua, Hawaii; nine grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Patricia (Daniel) of San Diego, Calif., and Karen (Steve) of Perrysburg; five stepgrandchildren; sister, Lillian Bialosky of Westlake; and brother, David (Irene) Vincenty of Canonsburg, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Sigmund Bialosky.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, followed by a funeral service at p.m. at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Road, Parma, OH 44129, 440-842-7800.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119, or to the Maine Community Foundation, Attn: TSCA John Gardner Fund, 245 Main St., Ellsworth, ME 04605, for the preservation and enrichment of our traditional small craft heritage.
