My brothers and I were led to the Lord under John's father's ministry at Calvary Bible in Columbus. I remember John playing Onward Christian Solders on his trumpet as he led all the children attending DVBS into the church. Thank God for such men of faith. Ray McDowell

I just finished reading "Axioms of Separation" and "New Neutralism II" (again), and I would like to thank Pastor Ashbrook for his great conviction and courage that he had to stand for the truth in a way that is lacking today in Christianity. It is sad for us to lose such a man of faith, but wonderful for him that he has gone on to his reward and rest. Thank you for the testimony and example that you have left us all, and may we all be faithful to the end.

Bill, Beth, and Family...
This is Marty and Pam Masitto who came to know the Lord under Pastor Ashbrook's ministry in 1971 and went to Bible College in 1972. That first year of our Christian life set the pace for the past 40 years of preaching and ministry. How we thank the Lord for every conversation and visit we had with him and every message we heard from him. What a comfort to know this fine servant is now truly HOME! We planned to be there for his funeral but were out of country when it happened. We were very sorry to miss that time to express our appreciation for this faithful, to the end, servant. Love in Christ, Marty and Pam

Sad to hear of this news but knowing he is with Jesus brings peace. Wanted to state that I am so thankful he followed God's leading and started MCS. I learned so much there that has helped me throughout my life and continues to help me everyday as I raise my children. Truly, the Lord is good...

To all the Ashbrook family and extended BCC family, Pastor Ashbrook was a tremendous preacher who impacted lives all across America and the world. His abiltiy to communicate the truths of the Scripture was Heaven endowed. His humility and grace were a testimony of the work of the Holy Spirit in his life and ministry. We will miss him, but some day we will be reunited in the presence of our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.

To all the Ashbrook family, I send love and prayers. Pastor was a special friend and I remember the many times he smiled and grasp my hand to "Welcome" me to a service he was preaching. He was a gifted speaker with God's Word and many times I drove across the state to hear him preach. He is remembered tonight with love and joy!

Beth, Bill and your families: I know your
heart aches, but you know that your Dad
is with The Lord, and is with your Mom
and all his loved ones...He was a man
of strong convictions and we admired
him for that. We were with all the folks
at BBC when the doors opened at the new
church on Lk. Shore Blvd. That was many
years ago. I have so many wonderful
memories of your Dad.

Pastor Ashbrook married us 52 years ago and our three girls went to Mentor Christian School for three years before we moved away. He officiated at both my father's and mother's funeral and in 95 at our daughter, Michele's, funeral. Pastor Ashbrook was truly a wonderful man of God and we're sure the angels are rejoicing that he is now with the Lord. We look forward to seeing him again one day.

I am so sorry to read of Rev. Ashbrook's passing. We attended the church for a brief time in the early 90's and found him very caring and a great force for good in the world. God bless him. It was a pleasure to know him and though it's been a long time now I still remember him - very influential. Rest in peace.

It is with sorrow that we say farewell to a pastor and friend, but not with the sorrow of hopelessness. Pastor Asbrook loved the Lord and served him tirelessly and faithfully. He now rejoices in the very presence of the one he served! May the God of all comfort bless and comfort you, Beth, Bill, and family members.

To Beth and Bill,
With great sympathy and love I send to you regarding the loss of your father. I remember him from early childhood as a great man, father, pastor, and a leader amongst his peers. This world would be hard pressed to find a man such as your dad with his insight, convictions, and willingness to lead when no-one else seemed willing to take a stand. Your father's legacy will carry on for generations; I truly hope that you and the BCC community will find a way to continue his legacy as a man of honor, conviction, and dedication to his beliefs. May God Bless you and comfort you.

Dear Beth and Bill, having experienced the transition from this world to the next of our own father, we know the bittersweet joy with which you now deal. We will miss your dad -- his wisdom, his clarity, his honesty, his humility even in his own imperfection, his evident love for our Savior. Yet we want to shout from the rooftops that he is home! Today, he has the privilege of seeing our Lord face to face, to praise Him with words that actually do honor Him sufficiently, to worship as he has never been able to do before as a human being. And he no longer hurts. We love you, precious friends, and we are praying for you.

I grew up under Pastor Ashbrook's preaching, from being in 3rd grade until I was 18. I used to love his stories to go along with every sermon, and the way he would always say "spacial" instead of "special." :-) I've been humming "My Faith has Found a Resting Place" all night; his favorite hymn. Thinking of his family- praying strength and comfort for you all during this time, and long after.

Praising God for this one who was not ashamed of the Gospel (Rom. 1:16). He "fought a good fight, [he] finished [his] course, [he] kept the faith (2 Tim. 4:7).
