There are many memories I have of "Lawrenceberg." One of my favorites is of our ice hockey games on Kenston Lake. My Dad and I would get the call that there was black ice on the lake and it was time for hockey. We would go and play hockey all day. John was by far the best skater and stick handler but we all tried to keep up. Vic Cross was usually the goalie and every blocked shot was followed by his "down the other end, boys!" victory cry. When a goal did score, John just beamed. After the game, we would go inside to warm up and John would provide a never-ending supply of buttered white popcorn and 7-Up. I think that's what I remember the most, it was so good. I was 'little Randy" at that point, but John always called me "Puckeeberg" which made me feel more grown up. This was about 60 years ago but I still remember that popcorn and John's chuckle and big grin.
