Jones Whitner Obituary

Jones H. Whitner, 68, passed away at his home peacefully Feb. 28, 2013.
He was born Dec. 18, 1944, in Oakway, S.C., the son of Roy and Rosa Mae (Harrison) Whitner.
Mr. Whitner graduated from Claflan University and did his graduate work at Cleveland State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam era.
He worked for the State of Ohio Dept. of Corrections for 33 years as an adult parole services supervisor until his retirement in 2000.
Jones was an avid golfer and loved fishing, swimming and tennis.
He is survived by his loving children, his daughter, Jean Marie (Anthony) Whitner-Scott; his son, Jones H. Whitner II; his grandchildren, Anthony L. Scott Jr., Andrew Jones Scott and Jade A. Whitner-Green; and his siblings, Roy Edward, Laverne Goodburn, Gary and Stepney Whitner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; and sister, Ellen T. Lindsey.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
