It was a priviledge to have been a part of Mr. Radican's (and his late mother Mary) life. He will be remembered for a long time to come.

Mr. Radican was a great teacher and a kind man. He was kind of intimidating at first but revealed a sense of humor and a soft side once you got to know him.

He will be missed.

I was a student of Mr. Radican in the late 60's. He was my favorite teacher and taught me a lot more than just history.
I am truly grateful I knew him.
May he rest in peace with God.

Joe,

Thank you for 55 years of friendship beginning at JCU, thank you for all of the world problem solving we accomplished, bless you for being in my wedding and helping to decorate our first Christmas tree, but most of all, thanks for being you. I look forward to your booming voice greeting me when I am called.

Although I'm 30 years old now, I will always remember Joe as "Mr. Radican" and have very special memories of his kindness and his dry/wry sense of humor in the extemporaneous speaking prep room. My friend and I, who both competed in extemp for Rocky River High School, always looked forward to seeing him at tournaments.

Mr. Radican, you are the epitome of an educator - you never talked down to us and you always listened... even though we weren't from your school and you had no reason to give us the time of day. You always treated us like the adults you knew we would become, and our lives were enriched for having known you during the time we were in high school. As a speech and debate coach today, I was happy to know you as a mentoring adult, and proud to know you later as a colleague and friend.

Don't worry, Mr. Radican, I will still do my uncanny impression of you at tournaments as I remember you - you are still one of the only people I've met with a voice deeper than mine! Rest in peace, and thank you for all that you were to all of us.

Joe was a wonderful friend to us for more than 50 years (way back to John Carroll days). We so enjoyed his company when we traveled together and when he came to Illinois to visit. Our children and grandchildren loved his gentle ways (and his booming voice). We'll miss you, dear friend.

It was my great honor and privilege to have been befriended by Joe. He was a delightful addition to our travel group and I enjoyed sharing Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal with him. A gentleman's gentleman, a prayerful and holy man, a scholar. He touched so many lives with his gentle and manner and genuine concern.

My husband was a teacher at Lake Catholic. He considered Joe a good friend. It is never easy to say goodbye to someone you care about. Remember that he is now with you in a special way. You can talk to him whenever you wish; sometimes he will show you a sign that he is there.

Mr. Radican was a dear friend of my family. I have fond memories of childhood summers spent with him, his best friend my Uncle Dennis, and my family, buffeted by the wind over Lake Erie in my uncle's boat (he liked to describe the wind that way). For my high school graduation, he gave me one of my favorite gifts ever: a six-inch-thick Oxford English Dictionary. This was before you could look anything up on the internet, and it served this English major very well in college. Mr. Radican, we will miss you.

Joe Radican was a great principal. But more important, he was a good friend. You are with the angels, sir, and for that I am overjoyed.

Joe was not only a lifelong friend, but the man who mentored my Career in Education that began 38 years ago.
Without Joe, I may never have had the many opportunities I have had along the way.
Joe's commanding leadership was an inspiration to so many. I thank God that I was able to know Joe and learn from the example that he set.
We will miss him greatly.
My family and I send our most sincere condolences to all of Joe's family.

Sincerely

I knew Joe as a man of integrity, peace and generosity. I counted him as a friend for the past 40 years. As an administrator, as a teacher, as a Debate Team coach and, of course as a friend, Joe generously gave of his time and his well-honed talents. Thanks Joe. I'll miss you. See you on the other side.

Mr. Radican: I had you as a teacher at St. Joseph High School, your first year as a teacher. I will never forget the time you spent talking to me on a street corner. It has influenced me my whole life. You were certainly an individual that had an effect on people. It will only come to light as your students hear of your passing. You were truely put on this earth to serve a purpose, and you succeeded. God love you Joe.
