Matilda Gradwell Obituary

Matilda E. (Merella) Gradwell, 88, of Willoughby, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at home with her family by her side.
She was born May 13, 1923, in West Newton, Pa. She was a Lake County resident for 55 years, living in Willoughby and previously living in Cleveland.
Matilda was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby.
She was the loving mother of Lawrence F. Gradwell, P.E. of Willoughby, Gail E. (Greg) Cobb of Strongsville, and Laura M. (Doug) Balla of Katy, Texas; cherished grandmother of Lyndsey, Allison, Kyle and Emily; and sister of Gladys McCormack of Frederick, Md.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Gradwell (+ 2002); and siblings, Lawrence Merella, Louise Merella, Ann Fossi, Eleanor Merella and Margaret Vitigoy.
Family and friends to meet for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Fr. Michael Troha will officiate at the service. The burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name by made to the American Red Cross, 9002 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077.

I remember "Tilly" from Lake West when we worked together on night shift. She liked to take care of the children on Pediatrics. She taught & encouraged me when I started working at West. I am thankful for my short bit of time we shared together.
