ARTHUR "BYRL" HIGGS

ARTHUR HIGGS Obituary

Arthur "Byrl" Higgs, 90, of DeLand, passed away at 5 p.m. on Sat., April 17, 2010 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home. Byrl was a graduate of the University of Florida and Stetson University. Byrl served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Byrl owned a nationwide insurance agency in the 1960's, after selling it he went into teaching at Seabreeze Junior High and Daytona Junior College. Byrl loved woodworking and computer programming. He is predeceased by his father and mother and one son, Dana Byrl Higgs. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Helga Christopher; three step-children, Eileen Christopher McDermott, Kathryn Christopher Linsley, Steven Michael Christopher; one son, Terence Dorsey Higgs; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. There will be no services per Byrl's request.

Dear Family,
I'm sorry for your loss. Mr. Higgs was my teacher in 9th grade at Seabreeze Jr.(1970) I remember him to be very kind. He was very well liked by his students.
