BARBARA G. McCORMICK

Barbara G. McCormick, age 83, of Oak Hill, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Born in Rochester, New York, Mrs. McCormick lived in this area while her husband worked with General Electric on the Apollo space project. They then moved north and returned here in 1988 from Salem, New Hampshire. A graduate of St. Joseph College, West Hartford, Connecticut, she was a retired nurse anesthetist. Mrs. McCormick was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, was a volunteer reading tutor at Indian River Elementary School, and enjoyed traveling and arts and crafts. Survivors include her husband, Thomas, Sr., of Oak Hill; 3 sons, Thomas, Jr. of Oak Hill, Timothy of Nottingham, New Hampshire, and Terence of Chester, New Hampshire; and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Todd McCormick. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach chapel, with the Reverend David Hartling, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday.
