C.W. McCullough Obituary

C. W. "Mac" McCullough, age 87, of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday at Loving Care Assisted Living Facility, Port Orange. Born in Hastings, Mac came here as a child, and except for his Navy service in World War II and Korea, was a lifetime area resident. A sales representative with Nabisco for 32 years, Mac was a member of the First Baptist Church where he once taught Sunday School. He was past Commodore of the Anglers Yacht Club, past Exalted Ruler of the New Smyrna Beach Elks Lodge #1557, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Daytona Beach. Survivors include his sister, Doris Scofield of Maggie Valley, N.C.; three nephews, William Scofield, living in Germany, Curtis Guard of Vero Beach, and Frank Scofield of Maggie Valley; and a niece, Barbara Gillis of Ft. Pierce. Graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert C. Brown, Coronado Community United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. tonight (Thursday). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Condolences may be made online.

Mac and I worked out together at Nautilus by the Sea in New Smyrna Beach. We had many fine conversations. Mac was a good man and a true gentleman. I will miss him and the twinkle in his eye.
