My deepest sympathies to the family. I was lucky enough to know Dan for more than 12 years. We taught flying in Covington together, taught at Delta together, and we drank a few beers together. I wish I had seen more of him. He was a patient, generous, and fun guy.

Deeply regret Dan's passing. I worked with him as a Ground School Instructor at Delta until my retiremnet in 2007. He was a true professional and a delight to work with. I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences are with you,Zoey and your family as you grieve. Capt. Daniel W. Barnes (aka Sky Pilot) was a great friend to everyone, he enjoyed life doing things like diving, traveling, riding his motorcycle and playing his guitar. There is a hole in our heart which will never be filled but Dan would want us all to Celebrate his full life and to cherish the memories forever. I will miss you Dan, Love Judy (aka House Mouse) ACMC142 ACFFAC

My deepest condolences to Dan's family. Blessings and prayers surround you. Dan, I only met you at our family outings and I did not know you very well but I know that my brother Popa D talked about you all the time. I know that he will miss you so much because you guys were buddies and did so much together. I am thankful that your life was full right up to the end. You have left a huge hole in the lives of many that you have left behind, but we know that you are truly living now in a glorious place that human minds cannot comprehend. Please hug my youngest son, my brothers, my Dad, Nana and all the others that are sorely missed. He is mingling with the angels. WE are right behind you - in a blink of an eye.

Heather, please let me know if I can do anything for you during this time. I too handled the death of my mother alone, so I can relate to your stress. I will remember your dad as one I rode with, dove with and played pool with. I choose to remember one day some months ago when he picked up a guitar in a cafe and we sang together to the applause of those in the cafe. A great Dan image to hold, indeed. See you Saturday, and thank you for holding down this complicated fort and bringing all this together. Rest, Dan.
